$800 per Week
We have a few new horse faces in the barn and camp sold out very early this year. I have some great counselors coming in to assist and so we have added a few more ‘Saddle Seats’ per week. There will be a total of 8 campers per week. Please see our availability below.
We aim to have plenty of fun for our campers with learning the basics of safe horse handling, grooming and tacking of our mounts, comprehensive instruction for our beginning and returning riders with plenty of daily saddle time… as we say, “Back to the Basics to Bring them Forward.”
Conveniently Located
Our riding camp is located just ten minutes from downtown Petaluma, with two easy highway access choices. Use Google Maps to find the one best for you. MHRA also encourages and supports carpooling. We can help you find a match.

The children spoke, and we listened.
No books, lectures, or any activities that do not have a physical horse involved!
9:00–10:30 — Horse Safety, Grooming, Tacking
10:30–12:00 — Riding Lesson
12:00–12:30 — Horse Untacking
12:30–1:00 — Lunch
1:00–1:30 — Free time to play or some Arts and Crafts
1:30–2:00 — Horse Tacking
2:00–3:00 — Bareback Lesson
Wednesday afternoon we paint, and the horses are our canvas!
Topics Covered
- Horse safety, disciplines, breeds, colors, markings, terminology, anatomy, and triage.
We will ask our campers what interests them and tailor each week to our group.
We also might go on a field trip to Sonoma Horse Park to watch a competition in action.
On Fridays
At 2:00 we like to present to the parents what we have learned at camp! We will show off our new skills and have an interactive riding lesson where we demonstrate our posting trot and steering skills, a pop quiz on terminology we have learned, and a Q &A session at the end so everyone goes home knowing a little more about horses!
Cancelation policy for camps: MHRA will refund 50% of deposit prior to April 10th, 2023. On May 15th, 2023, all balances due for summer camps will be charged to the card on file. At that point, should you be unable to attend your camp session, MHRA will do its best to accommodate make-up dates for camp based on space available — or convert camp to a month of lessons. However, funds will not be refunded.
